To create bags that can be 100% recycled, we needed to make them using just one material. That material is recycled PET/polyester, the same material as a plastic bottle. We use it to create every part of this bag – from the fabric to the lining, reinforcement, and zippers. Almost all bags are made from a mix of materials, with dozens of different components. Most also include polyurethane (PU). When PU is combined with other materials, recycling is virtually impossible. So we worked with development labs to create components from scratch, using nothing but recycled PET/polyester. Making every part of this bag from one material, with no PU, means it can be 100% recycled at the end of its life.
